Vihaanga Journeys was founded with a clear vision—to present India in its most authentic, comfortable, and meaningful way for global travelers.
Paro Taktsang, universally known as the Tiger's Nest Monastery, is the undisputed icon of Bhutan. Clinging impossibly to a sheer cliff face 900 meters above the Paro Valley, this sacred site is where Guru Rinpoche is said to have flown on the back of a tigress in the 8th century to meditate. The 3 to 5-hour trek through dense blue pine forests, draped in colorful prayer flags, is a physical challenge that culminates in a deeply moving spiritual reward. It is a mandatory pilgrimage for both locals and travelers.
March to May and September to November offer clear skies, crisp mountain air, and perfect weather for the strenuous uphill hike.
Visitors typically stay in Paro town or nearby valley luxury resorts, taking a short drive to the base of the trail in the morning.
Meditate in the sacred caves, listen to the resident monks chant, and tie your own colorful prayer flags along the mountain trail.
